Book Launch
I’m pleased to announce that The Nakasendo Kiso Valley: A Complete 5-Day Walking Guide is now available as a paperback on Amazon, with availability across several international Amazon stores, alongside the existing PDF edition on Ko-fi.
When I released The Nakasendo Kiso Valley: A Complete 5-Day Walking Guide back in May, a PDF felt like the most sensible format for a hiking guide – especially for something people would likely use on their phones while walking.
After its release, I received several enquiries asking whether a paperback version was planned. Quite a few people, it seems, still prefer having a physical copy to browse while planning, make notes in or carry along during a walk. So I’ve put together a print edition, and it’s now available.

The Nakasendo Kiso Valley Guide book description.
Seeing the guide in print for the first time was rewarding after months of researching, writing, mapping, editing, and checking route details. The compact format feels well suited to a trail guide, and I’m pleased with how the photographs and maps turned out.
As a final note, there’s quite a bit of AI-generated filler appearing in the Amazon Nakasendo listings these days, and it can sometimes be difficult to separate genuinely researched guides from generic content. If you pick up a copy and find it useful, a short, honest review would be greatly appreciated. It helps first‑hand guides stand out and reach future walkers.
Where to Get It
The paperback edition is available on Amazon Japan for ¥1,980 (incl. tax), with the PDF version available through Ko-fi at ¥1,500. The paperback is also listed on other Amazon marketplaces (US, UK, and across Europe), so it’s worth checking your local Amazon store rather than ordering from Japan if international shipping costs are a concern. Both versions contain the same route information, maps, accommodation recommendations, transport details, field-verified notes, and access to downloadable GPX track files.
